Wednesday, March 29th, 2006
Monday night, Abbe Land scored a big win with the endorsement of the Stonewall Democratic Club - the largest and most respected Democratic club in the 42nd Assembly District where Abbe is running (as a candidate for the June 6th, 2006 Democratic Primary election).
A letter of endorsement came from State Senators Sheila Kuehl, Christine Kehoe and Assemblymembers Jackie Goldberg and Mark Leno. It stated, “Abbe Land is a leader of fierce convictions. She has spent a lifetime in the service of others and has been guided by her passionate belief that all people should be treated fairly and equally. She has initiated trailblazing legislation that has served as a model nationwide….She has led the way on the strongest and strictest civil rights and environmental protections….Her passion for single payer universal healthcare will make her a beacon of light in the Assembly. Abbe Land will stand with us to fight to end the healthcare crisis in California and to help make our state a model for the country.”
Over the weekend Abbe also won the the endorsement of Progressive Democrats of Los Angeles (PDLA). PDLA is a cutting edge grassroots group of committed activists. They place a high premium on unequivocal support of core Democratic values. In her letter in support of Abbe, PDA National Board Chair, Mimi Kennedy, wrote, ” Abbe Land is a woman of common sense and uncommon boldness.”
